About Brandon Shea, LMHC
Biography
My therapeutic approach as an LMHC is client centered, where remaining non-judgmental towards symptoms clients bring into treatment is a top priority. I strive to normalize issues through trauma informed psycho education and validation, utilizing an extensive background in trauma treatment to help clients shift from a place of negative beliefs, low self-esteem or unhealthy behavior patterns, to more harmonious and adaptive life experiences.
I have worked a variety of human service jobs over the past decade plus and bring a bit of wisdom from each relationship gained along the way. I am trained in and offer specialty EMDR treatment for those aiming to heal from trauma or reduce distressing levels of anxiety/depression. I mix in interventions from narrative therapy, internal family systems parts work, as well as DBT to move clients towards desired results in a timely fashion. I work mostly in a 1:1 capacity with adults and adolescents where positive identity development and relational growth, such as setting healthy boundaries and self-advocacy skill building, are emphasized.
Personal experiences influence much of my professional motivation to help others, and at times I will incorporate self-disclosure into treatment where therapeutically beneficial. I believe greatly in therapy as a resource and work diligently to ensure clients do not have to suffer alone with whatever they are burdened by. My training placed great importance on building and keeping rapport, and I believe clients will find comfort, safety and hope in working together, as well as the ability to change.
